As advertised in ShareNet, we will be holding monthly art education workshops for homeschool students ages 6 and up. 

All workshops are Mondays, 10:30 - 11:30 or 12:30 - 1:30 pm, and are $25, payable prior to the start of the class.  Please call in advance to register.  Any workshops that do not meet minimum registration may be cancelled.  These classes are much too fun to miss!!

September 13th- Wet Clay Make and Paint

During this class students will work with wet clay to make, embellish, and glaze their own special back-to-school pencil cup. 

October 18th- Batik Pillowcases

Learn the ancient art of batik painting that will be returned to students as a pillow.

November 15th- Beadapalooza

During this class students will learn to make their own beads using polymer clay.  We will utilize different techniques to create, bake, and string their very own jewelry along with gorgeous glass beads.

December 13th- Holiday Ornaments Make and Paint

Prepare, cut out, and decorate ornaments for the holidays.  We will string them after they are fired, just in time for the holidays. 

 

January 10th-          Meet the Artist 1 of 4 (Mondrian)

Piet Mondrian was a Dutch artist from the late 1800’s who was an important contributor to the De Still art movement and group.  He evolved a non-representational form which he termed Neo-Plasticism.  We will use some fun art tools to mimic Mondrian’s style.

February 14th- Meet the Artist 2of 4 (Georgia O’Keefe)

Georgia O’Keefe was an American painter from the late 1900’s O’Keefe had a long and varied career but is mostly famous for her oversized flower paintings.  We will use some fun art tools to mimic O’Keefe’s style.

March 14th- Meet the Artist 3 of 4 (Paul Klee)

Paul Klee was a Swiss artist from the early 1900’s who enjoyed turning things into simple geometric shapes.  We will use some fun art tools to mimic Klee’s style.

April 11th- Meet the Artist 4 of 4 (Frida Kahlo)

Frida Kahlo was a Mexican artist from the early 1900’s who incorporated personal aspects into every one of her paintings.  We will use some fun art tools to mimic Kahlo’s style.

May 9th- Introduction to the Wheel

Students will learn about “throwing” pottery on the wheel and make 1 bowl each.  Select a high fire glaze; we will clean and glaze the piece prior to pick up which is 3 weeks after the workshop. 

This workshop requires payment in full upon registration.
